Taiwan, 55 years ago
Click on this link to see an online album of 278 photos, the majority of which were taken in Taiwan in 1957-58 by US serviceman Tom Jones. The images show the north coast, Taipei's streets (the capital was then a low-rise, relatively uncrowded city), funerals, temples and military personnel.

These are great, thanks! Two things: one, the "ruined temple" looks like a Japanese era building to me, and not like a temple at all; and two, what I wouldn't give to stay in that hotel in Tainan! Amazing.
ReplyDeleteThose are a collection of lovely photos, its really nice to look at the photos of old places where you can see how it used to be and compare it to the present.
